The Calabar carnival is one event that is much anticipated during the end of the year because it features exciting activities. Unfortunately, the Bikers Parade that held on Tuesday, December 27 ended in a sad way as they witnessed a fatal accident on the 5th day of the carnival which led to the death of 7 persons with 29 persons sustaining injuries.

How did the Calabar Carnival accident happen?
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Maikano Hassan has revealed that the Bike Parade was still on when a Toyota Camry car lost control and rammed into a crowd of onlookers. 21 male adults, three women, two male children and three female children were rushed to the naval hospital and the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital after sustaining serious injuries while 7 persons were confirmed dead and their remains had been deposited in the two hospitals in Calabar.
How did Governor Ben Ayade react?
Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade was also present at the carnival ground with other dignitaries. Having witnessed the accident, he ordered the closure of the parade as a mark of honor to the victim. While sympathizing with the families of the deceased, he assured that the driver of the car will be arrested and made to face the consequences of his actions
