DC Studio’s new bosses, James Gunn and Peter Safran has revealed that Henry will not be featuring in the new movie being produced. Henry Cavil has also confirmed that he will not be coming back as Superman after announcing his return two months ago.
“I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life.” Cavill wrote on Instagram
“The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that,” he wrote. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish. them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.” He further stated.
“Superman is still around. Everything he stands for still exists, and the examples he sets for us are still there! My turn to wear the cape has passed, but what Superman stands for never will. It’s been a fun ride with you all, onwards and upwards.” Henry says as he appreciates his fans for their support.
Two months ago, Henry Cavill also announced that he would not return to his role as Gerald of River for the fourth installment of The Witcher and that Netflix had recast the role with Liam Hemsworth.

Henry Cavill’s roles as Superman
The British actor, Henry Cavill first featured as Superman in the 2013 ‘Man Of Steel’ movie. In 2016, he performed alongside Ben Affleck in ‘Batman v Superman’. His role was finally reprised in the 2017 blockbuster, Justice League.
Why was Henry Cavill dropped?
Gunn explained the reason for the change of plans in a tweet on Wednesday. He revealed that the studio was working on a brand new slate and the initial stage will focus on an earlier part of Superman’s life. “We just had a great meeting with Henry and we’re big fans and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.” Gunn stated.
